Whitlock Ave Market, Marietta, GA

Suffered the Georgia heat at the open market on Whitlock Avenue in Marietta. This new market is held the last Saturday of every month and is located in front of One of A Kind antique store.
Although hot, there was a strong breeze probably thanks to hurricane Irene. Sales weren't great for me but I found the mother lode of Lego's for my brother. My picker husband Dan found some neat Delta Airlines collectibles, pipes and silver flask.
I can't wait until the next sale in September. Surely the heat will be less intense then.

Indian Summer Festival

Just added photos of our family booth during the Indian Summer Festival at the Woody Gap School in Suches, GA. The framed photos are by my nephew Eric. My mother made the doll clothes, the birdhouses by my dad and then we threw in some antiques. It was so windy and on the first morning of the show the top of tent had been blown half off. There's a hint of the mountains in the back ground. This school has the best view in Georgia.

My family and I are preparing for the Indian Summer Festival in Suches, GA. It's held the first weekend in October at the Woody Gap School. The school is surrounded by the stunning North Georgia mountain landscape. Lots of hokey fun such as clogging, hula hoop competitions and even a turkey shoot. This year I want to try something different and actually get a booth. I have many creative family members and will represent a collection of what they have to offer at the festival. I'll be bringing a few primitive antiques to the booth such as the wheel barrow I bought at the Flowery Branch Auction Monday night. I'll try to bring a good representation of tools that would have been used by early farmers in the Appalachian mountains. Sorry folks...my family not longer makes moonshine.
The birdhouses posted are my dad's work. He currently lives in Suches, Ga and occasionally attended Woody Gap School as a child. I think he invented truantcy.

Cleveland, GA

Found a few items on a house call in Cleveland, GA. thanks to a wonderful and bright lady named Mrs. Dozier. Mrs. Dozier shared with me some of her own hand painted porcelain. Hand painting porcelain was popular during the Victorian era and then again in the 1950's.
The drive home through the bucolic valley (I say bucolic because of the fresh smell of cow manure) was pleasant. Dan & I didn't stop for Bar-B-Que because we were still full from lunch at Presto Latin...Great Columbian food in Marietta Ga...1/2 from the Big Chicken on Roswell Rd.

Had fun at the Antiques Roadshow yesterday. Although the appraisal sum was $7000, we were disappointed not to be selected to be on t.v. Dan is holding our 99.9% silver sculpture by Carl Pappe. It only appraised for scrap value. I think it's a great sculpture and the artistic value should be greater. Dan had some old books that appraised for $100-150. We had a painting appraised for$800-1000. I did get to meet a two sisters who will be on the show. I want reveal their items yet...one hint though....it involves a war and a literary genius.

More Movie Posters

I'm listing some vintage movie posters on ebay. The first I've listed is the 1971 forgettable classic, "The Beast in the Cellar."
