The Burwell-Goss Home Sparta, Georgia

Recently my niece purchased the historic Burwell-Goss home in Sparta, Georgia. My sister and I had the opportunity to visit and help get started with some cleaning for her open house on December 13.  Hopefully over time it will be restore to a elegant and vibrant home. I expect no less from my niece.

My great find today was a 1944 Leather bound book. It is #177 of 500 and features 42 copies of Goya's bull fight etchings. 

World's Longest Yard Sale 127 Corridor August 2014

Our favorite spot on The World's Longest Yard Sale is Mentone Alabama. The picking began in Georgia though. We had had a nice visit with my uncle and ended the trip at Cracker Barrel in East Ridge Tennessee.

Wrong Turn....Are these Confederate Soldiers?

We were making a turn and came across two covered wagons with a Confederate Flag flying.   Guess they don't know the war between the states is over....didn't won't to wait around and tell them.

Mid-Century Modern Lamp

This lamp was recently discovered at an estate sale. The raised grape clusters and leaves beckon to be touched. This lamp would be more traditional if it weren't for the cool modern metal base. I'm hoping to find a mark on the pottery when I take it apart to clean and re-wire.

Skediddle Kiddles, Barbie, Francie

Found a neat lot of Barbie and Francie items at a recent estate sale. Inside a Francie case were two Skediddle Dolls and one Dolly Darling.  It brought back memories of those Skediddle commercials and the extreme want I had.  Fast forward 40 years....I got to enjoy them for a short time, posing them for an eBay auction.

Francie Fresh As A Daisy 

Recently I acquired six pressed cane and chrome bar stools.  I'm not sure if they are original Breuer Cesca chairs.   I also have six black pressed cane and chrome chairs.  The greatest difference between the two is the seat.  The chairs seat slightly curves over the tube, the bar stool seat does not.  Also, the bar stool tube is jointed were the chairs chrome tube frame is one continuous piece.   The chair is actually heavier  than the bar stools.  I remember this style chair made a comeback in the 70s and early 80s. Anyone familiar with the show Freaks & Geeks will remember the Wier family at the kitchen table sitting in these chairs( Episode 2: Beers and Wiers).

These are some on my finds.  The eyewash cups I purchased on a house call.  The necklace I originally bought for resale but I liked it so much I kept it in my jewelry box.  I never wore it so I think it is time to hopefully share with someone that loves the work of Mexican Silversmiths as much as I.
